Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/FileMANILA — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday reminded travelers heading overseas to be at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flight amid the expected rush of passengers this holiday season.

“We urge passengers to check in early and proceed directly to immigration for clearance... This will help ensure a more relaxed travel experience and prevent unnecessary delays," BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.

The reminder comes as the BI braces for an expected increase in international travelers over the holidays.

Viado highlighted findings from past observations that many passengers contribute to congestion by delaying their immigration clearance until the last minute, despite arriving early at the airport.

Additionally, Viado reminded government officials and employees to secure the necessary authority to travel abroad from their respective department heads.

However, Vlado noted that the agency "has prepared extensively to significantly reduce waiting times compared to previous years."
