MANILA (UPDATED) — Vice President Sara Duterte's trust and approval ratings went down considerably in November, Pulse Asia results released over the weekend suggest.

The same survey found President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s ratings go down, particularly in Mindanao and among poor Filipinos.

Duterte's trust score in November was at 49 from 61 in September — a significant 12-percentage point decline — while her approval rating also dipped to 50 from 60 in September.

The vice president had a trust and approval rating of 71 and 69, respectively, in June.

Pulse Asia conducted the survey amid the filing of impeachment complaints against Duterte, which stemmed from alleged irregularities in her office's use of confidential funds and her threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Duterte has denied the allegations and has repeatedly attributed them to a  supposed effort to discredit her ahead of the 2028 presidential elections.

She has also said that she would have been elected president in the 2022 polls had she run for the post but that she "gave it away because I felt I had to do some other things other than being president of the Republic of the Philippines."

NATIONAL RATINGS FOR MARCOS, DUTERTE SLIP TO 'NEAR-MAJORITY'

More notably, the increase in distrust and disapproval — by 10 and 11 percentage points, respectively — caused Duterte's latest national ratings to slip from majority to near-majority territory.

Based on the latest Pulse Asia survey, only Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero enjoyed majority approval and trust ratings at 53 and 51, respectively.

The pollster said Marcos joined Duterte in receiving near-majority approval and trust ratings, at 48 percent and 47 percent, respectively.

In September, Marcos had an approval and trust rating of 50 percent each.

Pulse Asia said Marcos experienced an increase in his disapproval and distrust scores in Mindanao at +12 and +14 percentage points, respectively, as well as in Class D or the "masa" at +5 and +7 percentage points, respectively, between September 2024 and November 2024.

The pollster added that presidential approval and trust figures dropped in Class E (very low class) at -12 and -14 percentage points, respectively, and appreciation for his work "eased" in Mindanao at -12 percentage points.

Meanwhile, indecision remained the plurality opinion regarding the performance and trustworthiness of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, both at 44 percent, it said.

The poll was conducted from November 26 to December 3, 2024.
