MANILA — More than 400,000 households have been validated for inclusion in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) — the government’s conditional cash transfer program — with another 1.1 million households up for validation, the Department of Social Welfare and Development said,

The 4Ps provides subsidies for poor and near-poor families that agree to comply with conditions like bringing their children to medical checkups and making sure they attend their classes.

“These 434,317 households are next in line to replace the beneficiaries who have graduated from the program through the ‘Pugay Tagumpay’ ceremony,” DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said Sunday.

DSWD said 1,184,768 more households have to be validated for eligibility for the program.

More than 4 million households are registered as 4Ps beneficiaries, with families graduating from the program when their children are past school age or are no longer enrolled in elementary, high school or senior high school.

Households are registered as beneficiaries for a maximum of seven years and receive P750 a month for health needs as well as monthly subsidies for three children for 10 months in a school year.

The subsidies range from P300 a month for elementary school students to P700 for senior high school students.

Beneficiary families that comply with 4Ps conditions also receive a monthly rice subsidy of P600.

Aside from the 4Ps, the DSWD also implements the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations and the Ayuda sa Kapos Ang Kita Program.

AKAP has been in the news in recent weeks because of its inclusion in the proposed 2025 national budget amid concerns that it could be used for patronage politics and to influence voters.
