Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA -- The licenses of the remaining Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) are officially revoked Sunday, December 15, following an order from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to cease all POGO operations across the country.Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) Executive Director Gilbert Cruz said that they will conduct inspections and closely monitor the remaining POGOs, which should have already been shut down. “Merong listahan na binigay sa amin ang PAGCOR, ‘yung mga naiwan na 20 [POGOs] na supposed to be nag wind down na rin, tumigil na rin. So ang gagawin namin dyan, iinspeksyunin namin ‘yung remaining days hanggang sa katapusan,” Cruz said. “Ang purpose nung inspection para malaman talaga natin kung talagang nag stop sila. Mamaya, sinabi lang nila nag stop sila pero actually hindi naman,” he added. <div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/8/marcos-issues-eo-officially-banning-pogos-1601">Marcos issues EO officially banning POGOs</a></div>Cruz warned that they will target POGOs that attempt to downsize their operations by transitioning to Internet Gambling Licensees (IGLs), Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs), and other guerilla operations by January next year.   Together with other government agencies, they will ensure that there will be zero POGOs operating in the country. “Those na mga dating POGO at saka IGL na nag scale down sila ng maliliit na operation. Gov&#x27;t expects &#x27;rogue&#x27; POGOs to flourish, vows to go after them</a></div>“Nung October 15, ‘yung mga dating merong working visa, dinowngrade na ito into tourist visa so dapat wala na talagang foreign nationals na nagtatrabaho sa POGO,” Cruz said. “Kung turista sila at binigyan sila ng 60 days to stay, after nung 60 days nila, dapat umuuwi na sila,” he added. He emphasized that shutting down POGOs in the country is timely, as it tarnishes the Philippines&#x27; reputation in the international community when scamming activities are traced back to the country.
