MANILA — A total of 3,962 examinees passed the 2024 Bar examinations, Supreme Court Associate Justice and Bar Chairperson Mario Lopez announced Friday, December 13.

This is equivalent to 37.8 percent of the total 10,490 law graduates who finished last September's Bar exams, a slight leap from the 36.77 percent or 10,387 examinees that passed the 2023 Bar exam.

Lopez said the Supreme Court en banc adjusted the passing grade from his proposed 75 percent to 74 percent.

"Hence effectively because of this 74 percent using grade, the percentage of passing is now 37.84 percent or a total of 3,962 new lawyers," he stressed.

He  revealed that nearly 1,000 new lawyers were added to the list of passing examinees because of the adjustment, saying "Malakas yata ang dasal ninyo."

Kyle Christian Tutor, a graduate of the University of the Philippines, topped the Bar with 85.77 percent.

The Supreme Court earlier said the scores of examinees are considered “sensitive personal information” under the Data Privacy Act, "thus, they cannot be disclosed without prior consent of the examinees".

Initially, more than 12,000 examinees took the 2024 Bar exams held on September 11, 13 and 15 across 13 local testing centers nationwide, but some failed to finish.
