MANILA — The camp of lawyer Harry Roque has requested a panel of prosecutors of the Department of Justice to extend the deadline of the filing of his counter-affidavit on the qualified human trafficking complaint in relation to the alleged illegal POGO operation in Porac, Pampanga.DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano said the former presidential spokesperson neither appeared nor submitted his counter-affidavit during the preliminary investigation at the DOJ, Friday, Nov. 29.Instead, Roque&#x27;s lawyer asked for an extension and committed to submit on Dec. 3, Tuesday.The DOJ official noted that the counter-affidavit to be filed by Roque&#x27;s camp could be an indicator of his whereabouts.&quot;Interesting po yan dahil titingnan po natin yung subscription, kung saan siya nag-subscribe. Dahil kung nag-subscribe siya dito sa Pilipinas, then malalaman po natin na nandito pa siya sa Pilipinas. Kung wala po siyang ifafile, then it gives more reason for us to believe na wala na po siya dito sa Pilipinas,&quot; he explained.Roque has been a subject of an arrest order for contempt from the House of Representatives.When asked if Roque needs to appear in person to subscribe his counter-affidavit before the panel of prosecutors, Clavano said this will depend on the &quot;temperature&quot; of the panel.&quot;Minsan ho ay pinapayagan po nila for justifiable ground. Ngunit hindi po natin masasabi &#x27;yan, decision po &#x27;yan ng panel of prosecutors,&quot; he explained.Clavano also mentioned that what happened to dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo where she faced complaints over her alleged spurious counter-affidavit should serve as a warning to Roque and other respondents of the complaint.&quot;Siguro enough warning na po yung nangyari kay Alice Guo na nag-subscribe po siya sa kanyang counter-affidavit kahit wala po siya dito sa Pilipinas, naging malaking issue ho &#x27;yun,&quot; the DOJ spokesperson noted.Meanwhile, Lucky South 99 representative Cassandra Li Ong filed her supplemental counter-affidavit today at the DOJ.She was accompanied by Bureau of Corrections personnel from the Correctional Institute for Women where she is currently detained.
