MANILA — Some supporters of embattled Vice President Sara Duterte are still at the EDSA Shrine Wednesday morning to show their support for the second highest official of the land.

Duterte supporters spent the night at the shrine praying and sharing their sentiments, including calls for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to address high food prices and other alleged corruption issues.

The program ended early Wednesday morning.

According to the police desk stationed in front of the Shrine, around 300 supporters gathered at the shrine starting Tuesday. This, after the Vice President warned that she had talked to an individual about killing the First Couple and Speaker Martin Romualdez if she is assassinated.

Malacanang has said it was treating Duterte's comments as an "active threat".

The rector of the EDSA Shrine earlier urged the crowd to observe proper decorum and to avoid eating, drinking, carrying slogans, shouting, vlogging, making noise, sleeping, debating, and loitering while inside the shrine.

As of 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, the number of supporters at the shrine has already decreased. The Philippine National Police said the gathering has been generally peaceful.

Some supporters of Vice President Sara Duterte said the three-day program will continue until Thursday.

Meanwhile, boxes of bottled water and packed meals were brought by "sponsors" as the supporters addressed them.
