MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) received on Wednesday the last batch of automated counting machines (ACMs) from Miru Systems, its Korean partner for the 2025 midterm elections.

According to Garcia, the last batch, composed of 9,680 ACMs, completes the total number of 110,620 election machines to be used in next year's polls.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and an international entity will test the hardware and software test of the ACMs, Garcia said.

The Comelec said it hoped to finish the international certification on ACMs by the first week of January 2024 to be followed by a mock election.

Garcia said the hardware and software test was being conducted daily at the Comelec warehouse that it rents for P3 million a month.

“We are very honored and privileged to have delivered the last batch of the machines, we are actually ahead of schedule to make sure that we won’t encounter any problems,” Cho said.

According to Cho, Miru has manufactured different kinds of machines for the past 25 years.

“The election process here is very, very detailed, very systematic. It's lot more stringent that other countries, that includes a lot more process, therefore, we are more confident with these process that we are going to deliver much better machines to Comelec,” Cho said.

Garcia said the Commission has delivered 2,000 ACMs to be used in its demonstration activities in different barangays nationwide starting December.
