MANILA -- A fire broke out in a residential area in Dangwa, Sampaloc, Manila on Sunday evening, damaging several structures in the area.

Erica Pacis, a resident, stated that another resident told her the fire began in an old house behind a flower shop located at the corner of Laon Laan and Dos Castillas Street.

She described the area as having a common layout where commercial flower shops occupy the ground floor, while residential units are located above.

She mentioned that the fire likely began in a dilapidated house situated behind a flower shop.

As in lumang bahay kasi talaga yun,” she added.

Pacis also mentioned that local barangay officials were quick to respond as she saw their Barangay Chairman alerting the proper authorities for assistance.

As of now, authorities have yet to provide an official update on the extent of the damage or any potential injuries. Firefighters and volunteers continue to work on containing the fire.
