MANILA — Sen. Risa Hontiveros on Thursday said the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality will hold a final hearing in its investigation into dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), saying her office has fresh information on spies from China in the gambling sites.

Hontiveros said that the panel would discuss all "loose ends" at the hearing on Tuesday morning, November 26.

"May bagong impormasyon po tayong nakalap, lalo na sa pagkakaroon ng mga espiya ng Tsina dito sa Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng mga POGO," Hontiveros told journalists at the Kapihan sa Senado.

She said that with budget deliberations wrapped up at the Senate, it is time to hold a final hearing on Guo, POGOs, and the illegal activities that allegedly happen inside them.

'POLICY GAPS' IN EO BANNING POGOs

Hontiveros said she believes that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s executive order officially banning POGOs has policy gaps.

"Kahit na meron nang Executive Order banning POGOs mula sa Palasyo, may mga hindi pa rin malinaw sa EO na 'yon," she said.

(Even if there is an Executive Order banning POGOs, there are some things that need to be clarified on it)

"Kaya sa next hearing, ilalahad po natin 'yung mga reporma sa batas na kailangan isulong dito sa Senado dahil sa napakaraming iregularidad at policy gaps na nakita natin sa pagkalat ng POGO at ng mga kaakibat nitong krimen."

(That is why we will present amendments to the law that we need to pass because of the many irregularities and policy gaps that we saw in the proliferation of POGOs and the crimes that came with them)
