MANILA -- The Department of Health reported more than 5,000 cases of Influenza-like illness for January of this year.

The agency logged 5,789 cases from January 1 to 18, 2025 which is 54% lower than 12,620 cases during the same period last year.

One death was also reported this year compared to 26 deaths recorded in the same period last year.

The top six causative agents are Influenza A and B, Rhinovirus, Enterovirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Adenovirus.

Public Health Services Cluster Farwa Hombre said on the sidelines of the National Immunization Summit 2025 Thursday, January 30.

The DOH further reminds the public to observe handwashing, healthy eating, and hydration, adding that if symptoms arise, to wear face mask to avoid spreading the virus.

Meanwhile, 10,842 dengue cases were recorded this month which 8% lower compared to 11,781 cases for same period in 2024.
