Garin appointed as new Energy chief

MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Atty Sharon Garin as Secretary of the Department of Energy.

Garin earlier stepped in as DOE Officer-in-Charge after then Energy Secretary Rafael Lotilla was reassigned as Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

“Secretary Garin is a lawyer and CPA with extensive public service experience, having served as a multi-term Iloilo Representative and DOE Undersecretary with a strong background on energy policy and legislation to advance accessible, reliable, and sustainable energy for our people,” Castro said.
