MANILA — The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) announced Saturday it will temporarily waive toll fees on the northbound portion of Balintawak to Meycauayan, as it holds immediate repairs on Marilao Overpass Bridge, on June 22, 2025, 1 a.m. until 12 midnight.

This came after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) ordered the concessionaire to suspend toll collection, following another road crash that damaged the bridge last Wednesday, June 19.

The bridge was hit again by an overheight container truck, its beam fell upon the vehicle of the victims. The incident left one dead and six injured.

"To facilitate the immediate repairs of the Marilao Overpass Bridge, which sustained severe damage from a truck violating regulations, NLEX Corporation will implement temporary toll relief on the northbound portion of the expressway from Balintawak to Meycauayan starting June 22, 2025 at 1:00am until 12:00 midnight," NLEX Corporation said on a statement.

Just in March, an over-height truck struck the Marilao Bridge as well, leading to weeks of repairs and temporary closure of lanes.

NLEX ealier said it is "cooperating fully" with the DOTr, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate the incident.
