MANILA — Meralco said late Sunday that it has sufficient power for the whole 2025 midterm elections.

"Historically, wala namang malakihang [problema] sa kuryente kapag halalan kasi unang-una, sapat na sapat ang supply. Wala naman tayong nakikitang malawakang problema," Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said in an interview with TeleRadyo Serbisyo.

He added that if ever there would be outages, they are still ready to deal with it as soon as possible.

"Kung sakali man, ready din naman tayo. Mayroon tayong mga contingency measures in place in case may mga pocket areas na magkaroon ng problema pero we're hoping na tuloy-tuloy 'yung ating serbisyo ng kuryente bukas," he said.

Zaldarriaga also said that they have quick response teams "deployed in strategic places" just in case power problems arise.

He also said that there are no areas under any alert level with regards to power supply.

"Wala. Sapat na sapat ang supply natin. In fact, holiday bukas mababa ang demand. So mayroon tayong assurance na wala naman tayong nakikitang short sa power. In fact, more than adequate 'yung reserba natin," Zaldarriaga said.

He added that in case a problem arises in one plant, the power reserves are still enough to carry  on with the voting.

"Kahit na sabihin mong magkaroon ng problema sa one plant or ano man, more than enough 'yung reserba natin. So wala tayong nakikitang ganyang sitwasyon. Halos close to improbable," Zaldarriaga said.
