MANILA -- Philippine Airlines (PAL) has a new president. In a statement, the flag carrier said Richard Nuttall will be its president starting May 29. Nuttall is replacing Captain Stanley K. Ng, who will now serve as vice president of PAL Holdings Inc.

Nuttall was previously chief executive officer of Sri Lankan Airlines, where he successfully turned the company around to operational profitability.

He was also an executive board member of the SkyTeam Alliance, where he helped reform the group's governance structure to speed up decision-making and improve airline collaboration.

PAL Holdings President Lucio Tan III said appointing Nuttall is part of the company's medium-term and long-term strategy of building a robust management team and growing the business internationally.

"As President, he will play an active role in bringing a global dimension to the Heart of the Filipino, and I look forward to working closely with him in the days and months ahead,” Tan said.

Nuttall, for his part, said he is honored to be joining the airline.

"The airline has accomplished so much in recent years, and I look forward to building on that progress as we explore new avenues for growth,” he said.

PAL's net income reached P10.01 billion in 2024.
