MANILA —  The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday immigration processing times at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 improved following a recent inspection.

“Last week, last Tuesday, same time we took a video of this same area, hindi pa Holy Week nun, hindi pa peak nun, at ang pila [sa immigration counters] halos dito na,” DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon noted.

He said the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) provided crucial data indicating that the peak passenger arrival hours at immigration were between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. daily.

Based on this information, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) committed to deploying a full complement of officers at all counters by 3:30 a.m., ensuring readiness before the peak period.

During a follow-up inspection around 5 a.m. on Holy Tuesday, Dizon noted: “Peak hours and walang pila sa immigration.”

“This is the result of the close coordination between… BI, MIAA (Manila International Authority), and NNIC,” the official said.

“This is proof na 'pag nagtatrabaho talaga tayo together between the private sector operator and the government, we can make things happen for the better,” he added.

He said agencies would sustain their cooperation.

“Makakaasa po mga kababayan natin na tong cooperation na to [ay] tuloy tuloy ito para hindi lang pang Holy Week to talagang pang araw-araw nang ganito,” he said.
