MANILA — Bank of the Philippine Islands is requiring a new format for check deposits made through its mobile app.

Starting April 1, customers who will deposit their checks electronically need to write "BPI/" followed by the payee's BPI account number above the payee name.

BPI said it will clear checks in the current format — as shown below — only until March 31.

BPI said mobile check deposits will also be processed under the same clearing rules as checks deposited at brick-and-mortar bank branches. Checks deposited after 3 p.m., on weekends, or on holidays will be processed on the next banking day.
