The International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) on Thursday warned the public against online scams that used images of its chairman Enrique Razon Jr.

The spurious ads being circulated online used manipulated videos and audio recordings to impersonate Razon Jr. and other senior executives, the company said. 

Many of the fraudulent videos appear as paid ads on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

"The fraudulent materials, which have appeared on social media, falsely portray Mr. Razon promoting investment opportunities. These claims are entirely untrue," ICTSI said in a statement.

"Neither Mr. Razon nor ICTSI has endorsed any such investments. The scam content is designed to appear convincing and may include offers that seem legitimate. ICTSI emphasizes that these are not authorized and are intended to mislead viewers."

ICSTI advised the public to get accurate information regarding their company and executives through their official website and the company’s verified LinkedIn page.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Corp. executive Ramon S. Ang also made a similar plea to the public.

The SMC chairman and CEO issued a fresh warning to the public about the spread of fake videos and online ads that falsely use his name and image to promote fraudulent investment schemes.  

“These fraudulent ads are harming a lot of people,” Ang said. “We need to put a stop to them. I’m calling on government agencies, social media companies, and the public to work together to stop those behind these scams and prevent others from getting victimized.”

“Please don’t fall for these. I am not endorsing any investment schemes. I do not promote, support, or take part in any kind of online investment offer.”

Ang said he has only one official Facebook page, which is verified with a blue check. 

“Don’t click, share, or engage with suspicious ads. If you see fake posts or videos pretending to be me—or promoting fake investments—report them right away using the platform’s ‘Report’ button.”
