MANILA -- Fiber internet provider Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. has partnered with Starlink to provide connectivity services to remote areas using satellites.

Converge is now an authorized reseller of Starlink and also offers end-to-end solutions from installation, network management, to maintenance. The company will also bundle Starlink’s satellite technology with its own fiber network offering redundancy in case one service is disrupted.

Converge CEO and Founder Dennis Anthony Uy said they target businesses and government agencies in far-flung areas for the Starlink service, including those in agriculture, retail, and even fisheries and cruise vessels.

“Especially in the construction, mining, the far-flung hospitality resorts and hospitality solutions. This is to enable to support the government especially during disasters,” Uy said.

Sherie Ng, Chief Commercial Advisor of Converge Global Business Group added, “Even the most remote business can operate like any of their urban counterparts.”

Uy sees the partnership with Starlink will help grow its enterprise segment this year by 5-10 percent.

Meanwhile, Converge has also partnered with another US tech firm, Ribbon Communications, to help improve internet services in the country. Uy said the Nasdaq-listed company is an expert on AI-enabled data transmission technology and they will integrate this into the Converge fiber network nationwide.

“We’re building a nationwide resilient high capacity fiber optic transmission network across the country to really support the growing traffic for Converge’s needs as well as for major enterprise customers,” said Bruce McClelland, CEO and President of Ribbon Communications.

The US Embassy in the Philippines said it welcomes Converge’s new partnership with two American tech companies saying this will entice more US companies to invest in the Philippines, notably in defense as well as the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.

“The large investment that American companies are making in the BPO sector… to be able to plug in and utilize a secure, transparent, and reliable network that we can trust is critically important to continue those American investments coming in here,” said Paul Taylor, Senior Commercial Officer at the US Embassy in the Philippines said.
