MANILA -- GCash is limiting 'send money' transactions up to May 12 to prevent the platform from being used in vote buying, the fintech giant said.

In an advisory on its app and website, GCash said it is imposing a limit on the daily transactions of users in compliance with COMELEC Resolution No. 10946 (Kontra-Bigay).

"If a user receives an error notification, it means they have reached the daily transaction limit. They can resume transactions the next day. This ensures we support fair and transparent elections," GCash said in a message to ABS-CBN News.

Even business users are covered by this daily limit. GCash, however, did not disclose the exact transaction limit citing security and compliance with the Comelec order.
