MANILA - Airport operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has deployed 8 more inter-teminal shuttle buses in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

In a statement, the NNIC said the shuttles will offer round-the-clock free transfers for passengers with connecting flights, improving passenger mobility in the airport.

“NAIA is operating well beyond its capacity, and while major infrastructure upgrades are in progress, expanding our shuttle fleet is an immediate step to improve accessibility and convenience for passengers,” said NNIC President Ramon Ang.

NNIC said some 50.1 million passengers used NAIA in 2024, up 10.4 percent from 2023, and 5.1 percent higher than numbers seen in 2019--the last year before the pandemic.

Earlier this year, NNIC also opened the main arrival curbside of NAIA Terminal 1 to all passengers on board private cars.

The operator also deployed two new ambulances for quick medical assistance, and three “follow-me” vehicles to improve aircraft guidance and reduce taxi times.

NNIC, a San Miguel-led consortium, took over NAIA operations in September. Since then, it has raised parking fees to 'prioritize' passengers and partnered with Meralco to boost the power supply in the airport.

San Miguel is also using a portion of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation's (PAGCOR) Nayong Pilipino property for infrastructure to complement airport operations.
