MANILA – Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has partnered with Philippine firm CarBEV to invest P1 billion into the country’s transport infrastructure starting next year, targeting the installation of 5,000 charging ports to accelerate EV adoption, CarBEV said.The two firms signed a Memorandum of Understanding at VinFast’s headquarters in Hanoi, which formalizes a 2026 partnership, CarBEV said. The deal combines VinFast’s manufacturing capabilities with CarBEV’s local fleet management system.Included in the agreement is the rollout of 5,000 charging ports, which is meant to support a wider deployment of electric fleets. The P1 billion investment will also fund the introduction of EVs for ride-hailing platforms, logistics fleets, and government agencies, aiming to modernize urban mobility and reduce emissions in major Philippine cities.&quot;This partnership goes beyond vehicles because it lays the groundwork for greener cities, smarter transport networks, and inclusive economic progress,&quot; said CarBEV CEO Christian Bradley. Vinfast announced last October that it was also partnering with another firm to roll out 15,000 charging ports across the country. The Department of Energy has said that it aims to deploy 7,300 EV charging stations all over the country by 2028, based on the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry.ACMobility and SM Supermalls have also committed to installing more EV charging stations.

The two firms will invest P1 billion to roll out 5,000 EV charging ports.
