Emperador buys Mexican luxury mezcal company

MANILA -- Emperador has bought a majority stake in Destileria Los Danzantes S.A. de C.V. through its Mexican subsidiary Casa Pedro Domecq.

Emperador said Los Danzantes owns both a namesake brand and Alipus, both of which are among the world's top luxury mezcal brands. 

Emperador said it will help Casa Pedro Domecq improve the distribution and promotio of its brands.

The company's president Winston Co said purchasing Los Danzantes boosts the firm's "premiumization and internationalization strategy."

Co noted that Los Danzantes is committed to keeping the tradition of artisanal mezcal production. 

"We will continue to safeguard and protect the traditions, heritage, land, people, and resources that make this world-class mezcal," he said.

Emperador also owns Fundador Brandy, The Dalmore, Fettercairn, Jura, and Tamnavulin Single Malt Scotch whiskies.

In 2023, Emperador set its capex at P7 billion to boost global growth.
