MANILA - An official of motorcycle taxi app Joyride told a Senate panel that the company will refund its riders collections for insurance as well as deductions from tips from their customers.This comes after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board scheduled a hearing on claims that tips from JoyRide customers that its riders are subject to deductions by the company.LTFRB Chair Teofilo Guadiz announced this during a hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Services when he was asked about this by Chairman Senator Raffy Tulfo.Tulfo read out a comment from an unnamed source during the hearing which also claimed that riders are being made to pay P600 annually for insurance.&quot;Joyride, um, kumukulekta kayo ng 600 pesos annually sa lahat ng riders for the insurance na pinagmamalaki nila na 1 million Ang coverage pero si rider ang nagsu-shoulder. One. Number two, yung tip ng customer, supposed to be sa driver na lang ay may kaltas din sila na 20 percent pati tip ka. Hindi makatarungan at hindi makatao ang ginagawa nila,&quot; Tulfo said.JoyRide Legal Counsel John Nikko Roxas said they are going to look into this.Guadiz also said this is not part of the terms of reference of their accreditation. Senator Grace Poe meanwhile explained that tips cannot be subjected to deductions.Roxas said they will comply when Tulfo pressed them for a refund.&quot;We&#x27;ll comply, Mr. Chair,&quot; Roxas said.Guadiz gave assurances that the agency will make sure they will comply.
