MANILA – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said no one was hurt after a Philippine Airlines plane figured in "a minor runway excursion" upon landing at Bacolod-Silay Airport on Friday, December 27.

CAAP said the incident involved PAL Flight PR2285, which was en route from Cebu. The plane overshot Runway 03 due to heavy rainfall that significantly reduced braking efficiency, the agency said.

"The aircraft failed to stop within the intended runway length, resulting in an overshoot into the taxiway," CAAP added.

The agency said all passengers and crew onboard were unharmed and were promptly attended to by airport personnel and authorities.

"As a precautionary measure, and to facilitate a thorough evaluation of the runway, Philippine Airlines canceled Flight PR2286, which was scheduled to depart from Bacolod to Mactan (Cebu). Affected passengers were immediately notified and provided with rebooking options or alternative travel arrangements," CAAP said.
