It was also 41.42 percent higher than the P807 billion spent on infrastructure in 2021, the DBM said.</p><p>Pangandaman also noted that the government spent P595 billion on infrastructure in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, and P911.6 billion in 2022.</p><p>&quot;The current spending represents 75.6 percent of the total allocation for infrastructure, set at P1.510 trillion for this year,&quot; the DBM said.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fadmkrsQy1Q?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>The government is banking on infrastructure spending to boost the country&#x27;s economy growth and hit the 6 to 7 percent target growth rate for 2024. Construction, both private and public, was a major contributor to the 6.4 percent GDP growth rate seen in the second quarter of the year. GDP expansion however slowed io 5.2 percent n the third quarter as a series of natural calamities caused extensive damage to agriculture, disrupted tourism and other services, and caused delays in construction projects.</p><p>Pangandaman said the country is on track to meet its growth targets of 5-6 percent infrastructure spending under the Medium-Term Fiscal Framework.</p><p>Some of the government-funded flagship infrastructure projects currently under construction are the Metro Manila Subway, the North-South Commuter Railway and the Kaliwa Dam.</p><p>Other major infrastructure projects that are privately-led or have private participation are the LRT-1 Cavite Extension, the MRT-7, the NAIA rehabilitation project and the Bulacan International Airport. </p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BU1vkR2dddA?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
