MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Wednesday laughed off social media posts claiming that he had been recently hospitalized.

A post by a certain Jose Alejandrino claimed that the Philippine leader “turned blue due to shortness of breath caused by stress” due to an alleged “drug overdose” which had also caused a supposed “violent struggle” with his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

The post, which already made its rounds on social media, also claimed that the first couple was “rushed by helicopter” to a hospital where the First Lady was supposedly treated for a head wound.

The president however was quick to dismiss the post as fake news.

“Do I look sick? Iyan ang kailangan natin bantayan, mga fake news na ganyan. Huwag kayong naniniwala unless it comes from a credible source,” Marcos told reporters in an interview at the NDRRMC office in Camp Aguinaldo.

“Ang dami kong kaibigang tumawag sa akin. 'Okay ka ba? Okay ka ba?' Wala. Kalokohan lang 'yan," he added.

Contrary to the report, Marcos said that he had a full schedule on Wednesday morning, as he assured the public that he is doing fine.

“I had a meeting in the morning. I had a command conference with some of our commanders. And I spent the rest of the day reading my briefs and doing paperwork. Nagulat lang ako when they said that there was... a 'medical emergency,'" he said.

“It's totally and completely fake. I do not even have a cold. I do not have anything wrong with me. I'm fine. Thank you for your concern.”
