MANILA — Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was reportedly "shocked" upon seeing her cell at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said Tuesday.

BJMP spokesperson JSupt. Jayrex Bustinera told ANC that Guo was assigned to her cell on Monday afternoon and shared the space with 6 other detainees.

Guo was transferred from the Philippine National Police custodial facility in Camp Crame to the Pasig City Jail on Monday following an order from the Pasig Regional Trial Court.

"She was shocked [by] the condition of her cell because I think she was expecting a different cell," Bustinera said, quoting information from the female warden at the facility.

Despite her initial reaction, Bustinera said no incidents were reported, adding that Guo was "mostly compliant" during her first night at the Pasig jail.

CELL CONDITION, SECURITY

Guo is sharing her cell with 6 other detainees, most of whom are facing drug-related charges. According to the warden, Guo kept to herself on her first day and has not yet interacted much with her cellmates, Bustinera said.

"We are encouraging her cellmates to talk to her, to engage with her, so that she won't feel isolated in that cell also," he said.

The cell is strategically located near CCTV cameras and the security is tight, he said, adding that there are no threats to her safety inside the cell.

'NO VIP TREATMENT'

Bustinera stressed that Guo is not receiving any special treatment.

"As a policy, the BJMP has no VIP treatment," said Bustinera. Guo was served the same meal as other detainees — sopas, pinakbet, and one cup of rice, he said.

"What she will eat is what everyone eats in the population," he said, noting that Guo can have her visitors bring food subject to inspection.

At 7 a.m. Tuesday, Guo arrived at the Senate for the continuation of the inquiry into her and her alleged links to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), Bustinera said.

Guo is fighting graft, money laundering, and qualified human trafficking charges.
