'Igme' to bring heavy rains to Batanes as it nears exit

RAMMB/Himawari-9 imageryRAMMB/Himawari-9 imageryMANILA — Tropical depression Igme will bring heavy to intense rains to Batanes until Saturday night, the state weather bureau said late Friday.

In its 11 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Igme was last located 500 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 70 kph.

Igme accelerated and is now moving northwestward at 40 kph. It is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility early Saturday morning.

All wind signals have also been lifted, but Igme will bring heavy to intense rainfall over Batanes between Friday night to Saturday night.

Isabela and Cagayan, including Babuyan Island, meanwhile, will experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

PAGASA also said the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring moderate to heavy rains in Ilocos region, Zambales and Bataan from Friday night to Saturday night.
