MANILA -- The Supreme Court on Sunday announced over that 10,000 aspiring lawyers completed the three-day 2024 Bar examinations.

Out of the over 12,000 applications the high court received, a total of 10,490 examinees finished the tests.

"The year 2024 for the Bar Examinations has been a monumental undertaking, and the hashtag #MostValuableLaban perfectly captures the challenges and victories we have witnessed. It has brought out the resilience, dedication, and unwavering spirit of our examinees and everyone involved in this fulfilling endeavor. Even the weather, Typhoon Ferdie (also known as Bebinca) cooperated and has veered away from the Philippine Area of Responsbility," Bar chairperson and Associate Justice Mario Lopez said in a statement.

"With this final number, I am confident that our examinees, personnel, and everyone involved will finish strong," he added.

On the first day, the initial report showed 10,483 examinees but it was confirmed to be 10,502 by the end of the afternoon examinations. The number dropped to 10,493 after the second day of the exams.

Lopez cited the importance of keeping the Bar digitalized and regionalized, as well as the shorter schedule in the success of this year's exams.

"The condensed schedule helped ease logistical burdens for examinees across the local testing centers, while the use of multiple examinees made the evaluation process more efficient and thorough," he added.

The SC said one examinee showed her 'fortitude and perseverance' as she took the exam despite undergoing a cesarean operation on September 13, two days before the final day.

"We allowed her to continue with the examination under intense medical supervision of our doctors. She also signed a health liability waiver. Indeed, despite the physical toll of childbirth, she has persevered through her #MostValuableLaban and now stands at the finish line. Her determination is a powerful reminder of the #Laban spirit that defines this year's Bar Exams," Lopez said.

The SC also said there was an examine with limited mobility and uses a wheelchair.

"These individuals exemplify what it means to rise above adversity. The Bar Exams are not just a test of legal knowledge, but also of courage and the will to succeed. We are deeply proud of every examinee who has overcome personal challenges here today, showing that anything is possible when you remain steadfast in your pursuit of a dream," Lopez added.

The SC earlier said the oldest examinee is 78 years old, while the youngest is 23 years old.

The 2024 Bar exams were held on September 11, 13 and 15 across 13 local testing centers nationwide.

The release of exam results is expected to be in early December, while the oath-taking ceremony and signing of the Roll of Attorneys is set on January 24, 2025.
