MANILA – Following the return of former Iloilo Mayor Jed Mabilog, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Wednesday they will ask him about his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

"He may have fears for his life, we are willing to grant protection of sorts. Unless of course he will be given witness protection if there are cases he wishes to put forward. As it is now, he’s just one person who rejoined the Philippine landscape," he said.

"Elections are coming in May. Filing of certificates of candidacy is October next month. It’s very timely for him to come back to relaunch his political career. So practically that’s how I look at it. Of course lumamig na siguro yung ano hangin sa paligid niya. Kaya siya umalis and he was granted political asylum by the US. Kung titingnan natin, it’s his decision to make, to go home and rejoin the political landscape,” he said.
