MANILA — A content creator recently set up a table date for a dinner date while traveling on an LRT-2 train, videos of which circulated on social media and were criticized by the rail's management on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said the "random train date" — a video of which was uploaded by @trionkwentos on TikTok — was created without proper authorization or clearance.
The content creator used a folding table, a white cloth, and glassware for the date, which could have posed a safety risk to other passengers, the LRT said.
“Anytime kasi pwedeng mag-activate yung emergency brake natin o biglang mag-sudden stop o mag-decrease suddenly yung speed natin, magliliparan yun… Yung baso pwedeng tumilapon, tatama sa pasahero,” said LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera.
“Kumain pa, bawal din yun,” he added.
The video may have violated the privacy of other passengers, Cabrera said.
“That is the reason why itong mga ganitong klaseng activity, pinagbabawal namin, in consideration sa ibang passengers… They value yung privacy nila so pag nahahagip sila ng camerang ganoon, nagko-complain yan,” said Cabrera.
The LRTA is considering several possible actions against the content creator, but stressed that its priority was to make sure the incident would not happen again.
“We’re thinking of sulatan siya, i-call yung attention niya, or ipatawag namin siya or bigyan siya ng sanction ayaw na naming palakihin ito,” said Cabrera.
“May instruction na kami sa mga guards na pag may napansin kaming ganoon, pipigilan namin para hindi na pamarisan,” he added.
The LRTA urged content creators to "act responsibly by respecting their fellow passengers and adhering to LRTA safety and security regulations."
"Safety and consideration for others should always be a priority when using our train services. The LRTA reserves the right to take appropriate action against individuals who violate safety and security guidelines," it said.
The male content creator behind the viral dinner date video had posted 3 Tiktok clips, all with the same gimmick. In one video, a security guard called him out before his team could set up the table.
But Cabrera noted that the LRTA was not completely opposed to having content creators over, but he stressed that they should seek permission first and only do activities in designated areas.
“Meron kaming special events committee. We accommodate yung mga kumakanta, mga busking activities. We encourage that. But we have to do it within certain parameters,” he said.
