MANILA – The Senate confirmed on Wednesday the ad interim appointment of former Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara as the new Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Angara will serve as the 39th Secretary of the Education Department. He replaced Vice President Sara Duterte who resigned as education chief in July.
