The Philippine National Police posted wanted posters of fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accused on Saturday at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City.

The group’s lawyers, however, argued that police have no right to post anything on private property.

"Whether you like it or not, i-remove n'yo na...you post it other place, 'wag dito, We understand the part of the police, its just that this is a private property. It is our right also kung ano lang ang dapat i-post dito," Atty. Adam Jambangan told the police.

For KOJC chief legal counsel Israelito Torreon, the PNP’s action is a case of harassment.

“The clear intention there is not to inform, it was designed to harass, not to inform, agitate…this is a clear case of harassment,” Torreon said.

But the Police Provincial Region XI is stood firm, saying it disagrees with the KOJC’s position.

PRO XI Special Task Force Teknon Alpha spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba said the posters are purely for the awareness of everyone that Quiboloy is a wanted person.

”Hindi naman tayo ipinanganak kahapon, what is the purpose….that is for awareness purposes. This is the information that the public need to know, hindi ito fake news” Alba said.

Exactly one week since August 24, when the authorities entered the KOJC compound to serve the arrest warrants against Quiboloy, the police are still searching for him and his co-accused inside the 30-hectare compound of the religious group.

On Saturday, KOJC appealed to the PNP to vacate its cathedral and the Jose Maria College building to accommodate its members coming from different parts of the country for the 39th founding anniversary of its religious group.

Torreon said the PNP is using KOJC’s cathedral as its command center.

“Tomorrow is one of the most important celebration of the KOJC and we requested him to allow us to use the cathedral, JMC facilities," he said. “Yan ang problema, yan ang aming i-negotiate with Col. Hansel Marantan…na magamit yung cathedral, aalis sila diyan. Tanggalin yung mining equipment para magamit bukas, kasi importante na makapag-celebrate sila bukas."
