Malacañang Palace suspended Wednesday classes in public schools and work in government offices in Metro Manila due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has also suspended the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or number coding in Metro Manila Wednesday.

Metro Manila has been battered by heavy rains since Tuesday night due to the southwest monsoon, causing floods in parts of the metropolis.

PAGASA said Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique will experience occasional rains with possible flash floods or landslides Wednesday.

Weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said weather in Metro Manila may clear up by Thursday.

La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Bicol Region, and the rest of Visayas, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms Wednesday.
