MANILA — The Makabayan coalition on Monday named three more Senate candidates for its 2025 slate, presenting them as the true advocates of the people’s interest and welfare.

The 3 new candidates presented in the proclamation rally in Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila, coinciding with National Heroes Day are the following:

• Jocelyn Santos Andamo, a registered nurse and secretary general of Filipino Nurses United

•  Mody Floranda of transport group PISTON

•  Mimi Domingo, secretary general of urban poor group Kadamay

Also present in the event were the seven Senate candidates earlier announced by Makabayan:

•  ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro

•  Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas

•  KMU secretary general Jerome Adonis

•  Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas chair Danilo Ramos

•  Former anti-poverty czar Liza Maza

•  Pamalakaya vice chair Ronnel Arambulo

•  Former Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño

Bayan chairperson Renato Reyes expressed excitement for the Makabayan coalition’s slate of senatorial candidates, saying they come from the ranks of the masses, as opposed to the traditional and rich politicians. 

The Makabayan Coalition earlier said that it would field a full 12-person Senate slate for the 2025 elections.
