MANILA — Barangay Merville in Parañaque City on Monday asked the assistance of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Strike Force to clear the west service road and other secondary roads in the village from obstructions and illegally parked vehicles.

MMDA Strike Force officer-in-charge head Gabriel Go told ABS-CBN News this is not the first time that a clearing operation was done in the area.

Go said the west service road is a crucial alternative route for motorists going in and out of Parañaque and nearby cities.

"Nagkaroon pa rin po tayo ng request coming from the barangay, humingi po sila ng konting assistance para magkaroon ng maayos na kalsada, kalo na dito sa Edison Avenue, so we have to have to ensure na maayos po ang ating mga lansangan," Go said. 

More than 15 vehicles were towed in Barangay Merville alone, including public utility jeepneys plying Pasay Rotonda-Parañaque and vice versa. 

Drivers of illegally parked, attended vehicles were given citation tickets and had to pay a P1,000 fine. 

Unattended vehicles need to pay a P2,000 penalty plus a towing fee.

Their owner or driver needs to go to MMDA's impounding area in Barangay Tumana in Marikina to get back their vehicles.
