MANILA — The Senate will resume its investigation into Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and her alleged ties to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) on July 10, according to Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Risa Hontiveros.

"Sa pagdinig sa July 10, umaasa tayo na hindi sasayangin ni Guo Hua Ping aka Alice Guo ang pagkakataon na ibunyag ang mga pasimuno at protektor ng mga ni-raid na POGO," Gatchalian said in an Instagram post.

The July 10 hearing was also confirmed by Hontiveros' office.

The Senate has so far conducted 3 public hearings and 1 executive session to investigate the controversial mayor. The inquiry has taken a dramatic turn when questions were raised about the identity of Guo, who was suspected to be a Chinese national.

Major developments on the case have taken place since the Senate's last hearing on June 26, which Guo did not attend.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has found that Guo and Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, who supposedly entered the Philippines in 2003, are the same person, based on a fingerprint examination.

Guo has been suspended by the Ombudsman, while the Office of the Solicitor General is preparing to file a quo warranto case to unseat her.

The camp of Guo had said she would likely skip the incoming Senate hearing.
