Marikina River lowered to 2nd alarm as water level drops

MANILA -- The Marikina River water level has been lowered to the second alarm as of Wednesday evening, the Marikina Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) said.

This comes after the water level dropped to 17.9-meters as of 11:58 p.m. It is expected to continue dropping in the following hours. 

Residents near the Marikina River were ordered to evacuate early Wednesday after the water level reached 16-meters. 

The local government conducted forced evacuations after the third alarm was reached at 10:00 a.m., when the water level breached 18-meters.
