MANILA – Continuous heavy rains due to Typhoon Carina spawned floods in parts of Quezon City on Wednesday morning. 

Knee to waist deep floods were reported along Araneta, Mother Ignacia and Timog Avenues in Barangay South Triangle. 

Some motorists tried to pass through the said areas but their cars eventually broke down due to the heavy flooding.

Other motorists braved the gutter to knee deep floods along major thoroughfares such as Maria Clara in Barangay Sto Domingo, NS Amoranto and some areas in Quezon Avenue. 

Light vehicles can still pass through gutter deep floods along Timog Avenue and Scout Borromeo. 

Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon were under red warning for “torrential” rains that could cause serious flooding and landslides as of 8 a.m., PAGASA said. 

According to the Quezon City disaster office, around 10 families residing from low lying areas in Barangay Bagong Silangan gled to evacuation centers on Tuesday night. 

Mayor Joy Belmonte suspended classes in all levels in Quezon City on Wednesday.
