MANILA — Makati Mayor Abby Binay will only accept the endorsement of her sister, Senator Nancy Binay, on one condition: the outgoing senator will not run for any local position next year.

The Makati official also said that she doesn't need the support of any political figure.

Abby also kept mum about her reported senatorial ambition, saying that she is still "weighing things" and will make the announcement around October 2.

The filing of certificates of candidacy is from October 1 to 8.

"Kung nag-offer siya (Sen. Nancy), she can only do that kung hindi sya tatakbo... ng kahit ano," Mayor Abby said.

"Kasi hindi na naman pwedeng maging campaign manager kung ikaw rin ay tumatakbo," she added.

The Binay siblings have been at odds for years.

"I don't need any campaigning sa Makati kasi, nagna-number 1 naman na ko sa Makati. So, kung sincere 'yung offer niya na gusto niyang maging campaign manager din, I think the only way to make it possible is for her not to run for any position," the mayor said.

Asked if she's going to campaign for Senator Nancy if she runs as Makati mayor, Abby said: "No, because she would be running against my husband."

Her husband Makati Rep. Luis Campos has already decided to run for Makati mayor years ago, the incumbent mayor said.
