MANILA — Sen. Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara's colleagues, including House Speaker Martin Romualdez, on Tuesday hailed his appointment to the Marcos Cabinet as the next secretary of the Department of Education, saying his background in championing reforms in education made him qualified for the job.

Angara has a Master of Laws from Harvard University, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics.
