MANILA — Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes, the former chief-of-staff of ex-Senate President and now Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, will take the witness stand on April 30 to testify on graft charges against her.

The Sandiganbayan Third Division set the date in a hearing on Tuesday.

Reyes, Enrile, alleged “pork barrel queen” Janet Lim Napoles, and other co-accused are facing graft charges for the supposed misuse of Enrile’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).

It was the defense’s turn to present evidence on Tuesday, but Enrile’s counsel said they will file a demurrer to evidence without leave of court, meaning the Enrile camp is waiving its right to present evidence and instead submits the case for resolution.

The anti-graft court gave Enrile’s camp 15 days to submit the demurrer.  

Other accused will present their witnesses and evidence in the coming days.

Enrile, Reyes, and Napoles are also charged with plunder. The last hearing took place in January and according to Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, they are set to hand down their decision in May.

“It's scheduled for promulgation. Hopefully it will push through as scheduled," Cabotaje-Tang said in an earlier interview.
