(2nd UPDATE) Thai police are investigating two Filipino transgenders involved in a brawl with Thai transgenders in Bangkok's red light district earlier this week.

A report from the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok received by the Department of Foreign Affairs said the 2 are being investigated for assault and battery. A hearing is expected to be set on March 8.

Three of the Filipinos -- whose first names were  Angelo, Gaudioso and Joseph and were originally involved in an altercation with some transgender Thais -- sustained scratches. A fourth Filipino called Jaymar or Ivy, who was merely a bystander, also got entangled in the brawl and sustained the most injuries on the face and head after being "attacked" by a mob of Thais.

Thai media and netizens reported that police were dispatched on Monday night due to reports of more than a hundred Thai transgender sex workers gathered outside the hotel where the Filipinos were checked in, due to a "turf war."

Viral videos of the incident showed that the situation immediately turned chaotic when the Filipinos were brought out of the hotel and the Thai mob breached the police line.

The clash continued up to the local police station.

About 20 other transgender Filipinos also either left their hotel and transferred or went home to the Philippines after receiving threats.

The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok reported that the Filipinos were all tourists and that Thai police are investigating if they were illegally working in Thailand.

As of this posting, no charges have been filed against the two Filipinos. Statements are also being verified vis-a-vis CCTV videos of the incident.

The Filipinos also told the Embassy that they want to depart Thailand as soon as possible, with three of them planning to go to their next destination (Mumbai) and another to Japan.

They also requested assistance to secure medical certificates, as well as to get their belongings from the Citin Hotel.

The Philippine Embassy assured it shall provide all necessary assistance.
