Peralta, who serves as the PNP's deputy chief for administration, will remain as the OIC "until a replacement is appointed or until otherwise directed by this Office," according to the memorandum.

Acorda was supposed to step down from his post last December after turning 56, the compulsory age of retirement for PNP personnel.

Peralta, a member of the Philippine MIlitary Academy "Sambisig" Class of 1991, has served as chief of the directorial staff and previously led Police Regional Office 1 in the Ilocos Region and the Southern Police District of Metro Manila.
