MANILA — Metro Manila and 14 other areas in the Philippines are forecast to sizzle in dangerous level of heat index on Maundy Thursday, March 28, the state weather bureau PAGASA warned.

Heat index refers to the apparent temperature felt by a person when air temperature is combined with relative humidity, according to PAGASA.

The following areas are predicted to experience scorching heat indices ranging from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius, putting individuals at risk of heat stroke with continued exposure.

• Pasay City - 42°C
• Iba, Zambales - 42°C
• Subic Bay, Olongapo City - 42°C
• Sangley Point, Cavite - 43°C
• Tanauan, Batangas - 42°C
• Coron, Palawan - 43°C
• San Jose, Occidental Mindoro - 43°C
• Puerto Princesa City, Palawan - 45°C
• Aborlan, Palawan - 45°C
• Masbate City - 42°C
• Pili, Camarines Sur - 44°C
• Roxas City, Capiz - 44°C
• Iloilo City, Iloilo - 43°C
• Dumangas, Iloilo - 42°C
• Cotabato City, Maguindanao - 42°C

People in these areas are advised to exercise caution as the heat index could also lead to fatigue, heat exhaustion, and heat cramps.

PAGASA on Friday  declared the onset of the dry season in the Philippines.
