Two suspects in the killing of Misamis Occidental broadcaster Juan “DJ Johnny Walker” Jumalon have been arrested, authorities said Saturday.

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) announced the arrest of cousins Boboy Sagaray Bongcawel and Renante "Inteng" Saja Bongcawel.

The suspects, implicated in the November 5, 2023 killing, are residents of Barangay Manla.

The suspects were arrested on Friday in Barangay Poblacion by joint operatives of the Calamba and Sapang Dalaga Municipal Police Stations by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder and theft issued by Calamba Executive Judge Michael Lotao Ajoc of Regional Trial Court Branch 36, 10th Judicial Region.

Boboy was the person identified poking a gun at Jumalon's radio station helper while Inteng was identified as the driver of their getaway motorcycle.

PTFoMS executive director Usec Paul Gutierrez expressed confidence that police will also be able to arrest the remaining suspect Julito "Ricky" Mangumpit.

Mangumpit was tagged as the gunman who shot Jumalon.

"Already, the Misamis Occidental PPO is following up on several leads on Mangumpit's whereabouts," he said.

A reward of P3.7 million was offered by the government for those who can help in the apprehension of the suspects.

Jumalon was gunned down last November in Calamba, Misamis Occidental while staging his live broadcast inside his residence.

Jumalon was the owner and anchor of 94.7 Gold FM community radio station in Calamba, Misamios Occidental.
