MANILA - The Philippines is in a race to protect its people against the rapidly spreading coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that has infected over a million people worldwide.

Here’s a timeline on the key steps the country has taken to respond to the pandemic.

Part 1 takes us from the first cases in Wuhan, China to the imposition of a strict lockdown in Luzon—in what would later become the longest lockdown in the world.
