MANILA -The Philippines will know the decision of Japanese judicial authorities on the murder case against Filipinos Bryan Jefferson Lising Dela Cruz, and Hazel Ann Baguisa Morales, who are suspects in the killing of two Japanese nationals.

According to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega in an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon on Monday, new evidence surfaced against the two.

“Ang ebidensiya daw, according to newspapers, yung DNA ng dalawa nakita sa residence at ‘yung sa babae pa nga kasama pa raw sa murder weapon noong nakita, kutsilyo. Mayroon din daw silang evidence via CCTV na bumili yung babae ng mga daggers, mga kutsilyo before nangyari ‘yung insidente,” De Vega said.

(The evidence, according to newspapers, was the DNA of the two were found in the residence and that of the woman was also seen on the murder weapon, a knife. There is also alleged evidence via CCTV that the woman bought daggers, knives, before the incident happened.)

“Malalaman natin roughly March 23, 24, bago matapos ang buwan kung ano ang huling desisyon ng piskalya at kung sasampahan sila ng kaso ng double murder. Kapag ganun mas lalong todo-bigay na ang aissistance na kasi serious crime ang double murder,” De Vega added.

(We will know roughly by March 23, 24 or before the month ends what the final decision of the fiscal is and if they will be charged with double murder. If that happens, we will give more assistance because double murder is a serious crime.)

“Wala silang inaamin sa pulis. Wala silang inaamin na kasabwat sila rito o what. Malalaman natin kung ano yung huling ebidensiyang gagamitin laban sa kanila,” he further mentioned.

(They have not admitted anything to the cops. They have not admitted that they are accomplices or what. We will know the last evidence that will be used against them.)

Dela Cruz and Morales are not allowed visits from relatives as mandated by Japanese criminal procedures but the embassy has checked on their status, according to De Vega.
