MANILA — The Marcos administration has reopened the Laperal Mansion as a guest house for world leaders who are in the Philippines for state, official or working visits.

The Laperal Mansion, the former official residence of former Presidents Corazon Aquino, and Fidel V. Ramos, is part of the mansions within the Malacañang complex that were renovated and opened to the public in recent years.

“We renovated the mansion because we wanted to offer you a safe, comfortable and meaningful place for your leaders when they visit the Philippines on state, official or working visits,” First Lady Liza Marcos told diplomats and foreign dignitaries who were invited to tour the property last week.

“Altogether, there are 14 bedrooms in this mansion and we named each one after a former president so as to pay tribute to our country’s history,” she said.

“The Laperal Mansion will continue to tell the story of fostering and strengthening friendships among nations,” she said.

The Laperal Mansion, which is adjacent to the Malacañang Palace, was dubbed as the “crown jewel” among the centuries-old residences that were renovated through the efforts of the First Lady.

Malacañang has yet to respond to queries as to how much was spent for the renovation of the Laperal Mansion, and how much world leaders would be charged for every night of stay in the residence.
